Magic mirror raspberry pi zero w how to#I've spent the last two days working on how to solve each of my problems and the new ones that have sprung up. I'll post updates as I continue to make progress! Any tips, tricks, or helpful advice would be extremely appreciated, seeing as how (as I'm sure you can tell) I have next to no idea what I'm doing. Thank you to anyone who stops by and reads, and I hope by the end this will prove helpful to anyone who might try this. I only need a 17 by 11 inch surface area, but everywhere I look online has incredibly high prices. I'm hoping it won't cause me too much trouble, but I feel like this one is somewhat manageable.Īssuming that I can get the actual software up and running (by some miracle), I'm not sure where I can buy a 2 way mirror that won't completely break the bank. I've only got a 4GB micro SD card, so I'll have to go with Raspbian Jessie Lite which, based on some quick research, seems to be causing issues with other people. I was thinking of using a USB hub as a temporary pass through for my keyboard, but I have my doubts about that method. Seeing as how I have no wireless keyboards/mice, I'm going to have to find a creative way to connect my wired peripherals to the Micro USB port on the Pi Zero without having to buy another adapter. Problem #1 - No wireless keyboard / mouse I'm starting to get a bad feeling about it, seeing as how I'm going to need a zillion adapters for everything but hey I'm up for the added challenge. I decided to use the Raspberry Pi Zero W because, well, it was the cheapest available. If nothing else, this is going to be interesting. I've got an old LCD monitor, the materials for the frame, and little to no experience with Linux. I decided to commit to making a magic mirror today and am excited to see this project through.
